I wear 'em both so pretty as I walk in the city

My beloved Marc Jacobs rain boots finally bit the dust this month. I was pretty devastated...they matched everything and were surprisingly comfortable. After a couple weeks of denial that the holes weren't that bad I finally caved and bought some Hunter boots. I'll still go to MJ first for dresses and purses, but as far as braving massive slush puddles on Park go these are the real deal.

HAM

For those of you that I haven't talked your ear off to about my life goals, my original plan for moving to New York was to get a job in retail for a year while I worked on applying to grad schools for the fall. I've since decided on waiting an extra year before starting my MSW to get some good volunteer experience outside of what I did in college. I'm starting to volunteer with an after-school program at Girls Inc. this Friday and cannot wait! In the meantime though I spend most of my days at The Track and Field Store selling athletic wear to Upper East Side housewives. Normally at least three people work together, but today it was just Bryant and me. We spent our massive amount of quality time together doing such productive things as analyzing Kanye West lyrics, discussing how much more intimidating Bryant looks while wearing Oakleys, and admiring our view of Central Park.
Oh and Bryant's also a pretty awesome coach and trainer...check out his blog http://trainerontherun.blogspot.com/

"The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool"

One of my best friends since age nine moved to Brooklyn at the same exact time as me and lives on the most adorable tree lined street in Park Slope. While making new friends is always a good thing, I'm so so grateful to have someone around who knew me back when a good Saturday night meant sitting at my house eating ice cream sandwiches and sneaking into elementary school playgrounds after hours. Really we haven't gotten that much more exciting, except for trading in the ice cream and playgrounds for Sweet Revenge and Bierkraft oooooor just having hour long discussions about how much more shockingly relevant Sex and the City has become after moving here.

You made Brett Bretterson up in 1st grade, he's not real

Friday was the camera shy boyfriend's best friend's birthday and we went out and had tons of fun in the West Village. I left my camera at work by accident, but even if I had brought it my picture taking would have been mocked. Contrary to what my family and Atlanta friends are starting to believe he does exist though...I'll sneak attack a picture sometime soon and he'll just have to deal with it. No Friday night picture aside, this one is still relevant because every single time I go out in NY I think to myself how my weekends would be even better if the Mob Mob were involved.

Oh January oh

Growing up in Georgia I always envied parts of the US that have seasons. Therefore, upon moving to New York I couldn't wait to experience such things as actually having real snow in the winter, instead of a couple of inches a year followed by a "massive" ice storm and losing power for a week. Turns out though I hate the winter. Snow is only charming on Christmas or in the mountains, not when it  instantly turns to piles of dirty slush and adds an extra 30 minutes to my subway ride. Buuuuut, snow also tends to create stuck taxis, which are hilarious and become even funnier when your co-worker and a grandfatherly passer-by have to assist them.

Also winter music isn't too bad

Me I'm up at Bed-Stuy home of that boy Biggie

Since August my mother has been asking me daily to send her pictures of my apartment. Unless you're like her and have been dying to critique my decorating and cleanliness this will probably be boring.
The kitchen. Note the 2 sinks for when I inevitably becomes Jewish. I also just got a food processor that I haven't felt the need to take out of the box yet.

Entrance to Nina's room

Left half of the living room

Significantly plainer right side of the living room. There's a Great Gatsby poster on it's way via the little sister for over the futon and a floor lamp will probably appear eventually.

Entrance to my room. I'm kind of obsessed with it minus the paint splatters on the glass

Bedroom

Dresser and pictures that look much less crooked in person

Some expertly hemmed door curtains. The door to the right leads to Nina's room for in case I can't walk around the corner. Note the creepy spying windows too.

My closet. It's pathetic. I miss every closet I've ever had before.

Bathroom. And yes in case you were wondering that is the same shower curtain owned by Cam and Mitchell on Modern Family.

OMFG

I'm not usually one for teen dramas (with the exception of The O.C. I cried my eyes out when Marissa died and may or may not own a pair of I heart Seth Cohen undies), but every now and then I fulfill my inner angsty high schooler and tune in to Gossip Girl...the clothes are amazing, the music's surprisingly good, and it's by the same creator as The O.C. Totally justifiable. So, naturally I was excited when I came in to work on a bound to be slow snowy day and saw THIS going on next door. Six hours of shooting and three Blake Lively sightings later the novelty wore off, but my inner 15 year old girl can't wait to see which Intermix dress will make the cut.
